The Power of Words
The Power of Words
I have been absent for two days now and have to do some catching up. The hotel I was in night before last was unable to connect to my laptop so the thoughts that were to have been posted never saw the page other than in my mind’s eye. When I arrived home last night I was simply too tired to start typing; sorry but being ill and gone for the last several days has taken its toll on my body.
Let’s talk about the freedom of speech or the lack there of. Have you ever watched the pages on this wonderful thing called the blog pages of others? Do you see things on them that are mostly entertaining or just short stories of others lives? I for one have watched several pages for years now and find the for the most part people do not actually read what they have written. They simply write what is in their mood and for the most part lashing out at others for the simple fact that they want to be hurtful and spiteful.
What kind of power do words actually have? Well let’s look at a few facts here…. There is proof from long ago of pictures telling the story of the famous hunters; heros of the times; and the rulers’ lives. Pictionary was developed long before the written word. Look in any history book or online to find out what the centuries ago “blogs” were of. They told stories that were passed down through the generations and even centuries. These “blogs” were craved or painted in stone. They were of powerful use come to the here and now knowledge of how we became; not to mention what artifacts we have found and needed to understand in order to see where things went forward from there to now. Those words are of some extreme power even though they were crude in their demonstration of definition.
The written word was put into print many centuries ago for the purpose of informing others of the news surrounding them; surrounding their lives. They were used to create some of the most powerful plays; poems and even laws we have built our worlds on today. They were words of passion and demonstration. They were and are still some of the most studied pieces of literature studied today. Shakespeare would never have put slander on to the page for “his” world to have seen and used against another. He as well as many many others put words into print for us to enjoy and see beauty in not harm. If his words were those of anything other than passion would we still study them centuries later?
The laws that we follow for freedom and righteousness are written words to the entire world to see and follow. They have been fought over and for. Still today we have many of those words embedded in our laws; which have been reconstructed to help deal with the progressive world we live in. Those who fought for our freedom; our rights and laws used written words to establish civilization and culture. Their words were some of the most powerful words ever written during that time and even now. Look at the context of our rights and freedoms; the words are simple phrases but some of the most powerful that we study from early school years to today.
There is yet another book that we all know about and the words in that book are not in any way weak. The Bible is written in many different languages; in many different religious forums; but the words are powerful and meaningful without malice or defation of any man; woman or child’s character. It is likely the most powerful of books we have had in our lives for the entire written history. This book is meant to help keep our souls whole and our lives pure. Are the words in that book meant to be read and disgarded?
There have been those that used written words to create what they wanted to and create havoc and chaos. They used the written word to gather people around them filled with hatred and malice. Hitler used words to create hatred amongst millions of people. His words were for his own use but because the words he used were powerful and simple phrases he was successful in creating a war for his own purposes… to take over the world. He failed because of his hateful words reaching out to the rest of the world and even more written words building a resistance to set him up for failure. Propoganda is simply written words; but yet powerful; it is easily spread and even though most often untrue followed because of the power within the words.
The words we put on the pages of our blogs are just as powerful and meaningful as those written for other purposes. Our words are simple at times and emotional but yet because of the POWER within those words they are followed. Those that follow our hate filled blogs are doing so because of the PASSION and POWER we put to our pages. The truth may or may not be there on those pages but likely not if the words are filled with hate.
Those of us that use our words to educate or entertain often get thought provoking responses within our readers’ heads. They may or may not respond in comments because they have seen that those simple phrases of hate are what they have been following and most often do not wish to admit being easily lead astray. Be sure when you use your words that they are of passion; truth and power for the right reasons not for displaying your own hatred of the unknown.
Anyone is free to comment on my blogs; but I seldom see a response being as I wish people to think about what I have said and use their smarts to do what is right. To stop hating the unknown and follow the truth.
